I am trying to identify the father of Wilburn Walter (WW) and Edward Robert (ER) Wright and husband of Matilda E. Morrow. The family appears to have come from Lawton Oklahoma to Wichita Falls Texas between 1880 and 1890. Census records report that Matilda and UNKNOWN Wright were both born in Texas.

Edward Robert/Edie/E. R. Wright b. August 1880 in Lawton, OK was the older brother of my gg grandfather Wilburn Walter (W W) Wright b. March 1884 in Wichita Falls; d. 1963.

Their mother was Matilda E. Morrow b. either 1860 (death certificate) or 1856 (1900 Census)in Texas. She died in 1932 in Wichita Falls. Her parents were J. (James) J. Morrow and Sarah Cummings from Ohio. I have some evidence that JJ, Sarah, and Matilda were living in Dewitt County, Texas in 1800.

Edie Wright signed his mother's (Matilda Morrow) death certificate as ER Wright and listed his residence in 1932 as Wichita Falls. Matilda died as Matilda Daniels. Her obituary list four sons (Ed, Wilburn Walter, HC Crain, and Lewis Daniels). It states that she lived in Wichita Falls for 40 years.

Matilda Morrow Wright Crain Daniels was married three times. First to UNKOWN Wright, Second to Charlie Crain, and Lastly to William E. Daniels.

She had 2, possibly 3, children with UNKNOWN Wright: Edie, Wilburn, and possibly Albert. Albert may be a Crain; however, the 1900 Census has Matilda Crain widowed from Charlie with 5 Children (Edie, Wilburn, Albert, Henry Crain and John H. Crain + 2 deceased children. Edie, Wilburn, and Albert are not idendified as Crain nor Wright. Henry and John, however, are listed as Crain.

She has 2 or 3 children with Charlie Crain from Kentucky: possibly Albert, Henry Claude (HC) and John H. Crain.

She had 1 son with William E. Daniels: Lewis Layfayette Daniels in 1906.

My grandfather told of a story of Edie, WW, and their father UNKNOWN Wright being involved in a possible ferry accident. Given that Edie was born in Lawton and the WW is born in Wichita Falls, I am assuming that the accident happened crossing the Red River.

WW also talked about being raised by a Mr. Bryant as a child, but I can't find evidence supporting this.

From what I have gathered, WW's father (UNKNOWN Wright) died between 1884 and 1890. I would estimate that UNKNOWN Wright and Matilda Morrow married between the early-mid 1870's and 1880.

Census reports have the children's father (UNKNOWN Wright) being born in Texas. None of the son's death certificates list their father's name.

Information on Albert Wright born: Jan 1890 Died: unknown also would be helpful.

If you have evidence of my ggg grandfather (UNKNOWN Wright), I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks,
Matt
