Nancy,
The 1810 and 1820 Censuses for Virginia do not list an Amos Wright.
The 1830 Census for Virginia lists only one Amos Wright in Frederick County, age 20 to 30.That indicates that he was born between 1800 and 1810, which would be too late to have a child born in 1815.However, the listing also has a male age 10 to 15 in the household, which would fit your Thomas or John Chalky Wright born in 1815.
The 1840 Census for Virginia lists three Amos Wrights.
The first was in Frederick County, age 40 to 50.That indicates he was born between 1790 and 1800, which opens the possibility that he was your Amos Wright. The listing also has a daughter age 15-20, which would fit your Rebecca, and a daughter age 5 to 10, which would fit your Elizabeth.
The second was in Montgomery County, age 30 to 40.That indicates that he was born between 1800 and 1810, which again would be too late to have a child born in 1815.This Amos Wright was a son of Sarah Wright.
The third was in Ohio County, age 50 to 60.That indicates a date of birth between 1780 and 1790, which would seem to work for your Amos as well. The listing also has a daughter age 10-15, which is close to your Rebecca, and a daughter age 5 to 10, which would fit your Elizabeth.
The 1850 Census lists five Amos Wrights in Virginia. The one from Frederick County is listed as born in 1802 with a wife Rachael and the one from Montgomery County is listed as born in 1801 with a wife Lavinia, neither of which would work for your Amos. The next two Amos Wrights were listed as born in 1826 and 1836, neither of which fits your Amos.
The last Amos Wright was from Ohio County and is listed as born in 1789 in Virginia, which would seem to work for your Amos, and has a wife Elizabeth, age 52 and born in Maryland, which fits your Amos.In addition, he has a daughter Elizabeth, age 16 and born in Virginia, which fits the daughter Elizabeth in your listing. There is also a John H. (?), age 30, which is close to your John Chalky in your listing.
The 1860 Census for Virginia lists Amos Wright, age 72, with wife Elizabeth, age 65, in Wheeling, Ohio County, Virginia, and his occupation as alderman.
The 1870 Census for West Virginia did not list an Amos Wright.
The Amos Wright from Ohio County, Virginia, therefore, would seem your best lead. And if Amos was an alderman, there might be some Wheeling, West Virginia, records, possibly a city or county history, which would give his biography. And given his age and absence from the 1870 Census, his death would probably be in Ohio County, West Virginia, and his will, if one exists, would be on record there and might list his children.
Hope this is of some help to you.
Best wishes,
