My grandmother on my mother's side was Martha Wright. Her father was William F. Wright and her mother was Mary T. Wright.According to the 1910 census he was born in NC, but do not know where. She had one brother, Frank and 2 sisters, Mary E. and Nettie.
I do not know what my great grandmother's maiden name was, but, she comes from Cherokee heritage. The way that I understand is that my grandmother was half Cherokee. That would have made Mary T. Cherokee. It is a possibility that Mary T. may have been half Cherokee. My aunt's tell the story of my grandmother's family coming to visit and scaring them to death in the woods. They thought they were being attacked by Indians, but it was just the family.
My mother always said they were from a reservation in East Tennessee, but, when speaking of her home place in Hurricane Mills, TN she always called it east TN, but it is actually just across the TN river from west TN.
