Hello Robert, My cousin Nancy Haas suggested I write you, as I am the one who told her I believe that William C. Wright MAY be the father of our James L. Wright, It is either William or Williams oldest brother James Wright...
I have searched for this family for many many years, and thru the kindness of a fellow researcher, was finally put on the right track...
I have Known for years that our James L. Wright was some how related or connected to Benjamin Franklin Wright who moved to Lawrence Co. Arkansas by the 1870.. According to all census records, James is NOT mentioned as living with B.F. Wright...but he did sign for secutity for the marriage license of James L. Wright and Susan E. ERwin . I have found one or two other records where B.F. WRight signed for security for James L. WRight .. Also my Great Grandfather, James L. WRight is buried near B.F. Wright and his family in Lancaster Cemetery in Larence Co. Arkansas
Benjamin Franklin Wright is in the Laclede co. Missouri 1850 Census, at the age of 18, William C. was 16, their Older brother James WRight age 22 was Head of Household, married with one child, female... and two sisters , Eliza Jane and Melvina, (another sister, Lucritia, had already married Josephus Hough)..the PARENTS are also listed in the census, under James Wright..Benjamin Wright b.c. 1800 in N.C. and his wife Elizabeth (Lester) b. Virginia, they married in Davidson Co. Tennessee 4 March 1820.. according to Goodspeeds Biographies, the parents of Lucritia Wright Hough, died about 1851 and all of the her brothers and sisters eventually moved to Arkansas...
B.F. Wright moving there first to Lawrence Co. Ark... William C. also moving to Lawrence Co. then Sharp Co. Ark. James had moved to Wright Co. as did Eliza Jane Wright Smith, wife of Noel J. Smith, and they also moved from WRight Co. Mo. to Fulton Co. Arkansas (county north of Lawrence Co. Ark...
James Wright is listed with a son named James...
William C. Wright is also listed with a son named James
B.F. Wright is NOT listed with a son named James
I have sent for my Great grandfathers death certificate, and received the wrong one...when I informed them of the error, they could not find the correct one... one of the women who writes books about lawrence Co. informed me that a doctor in the area of my great grandfathers area, did not fill out death certificates and alot of people cannot find records for that area...I was wanting to find his fathers name on the death certificate... I am certain it is William or James, but which one is not known for a fact at this time. I do have census records that follow the trip from Laclede Co. to Lawrence.. and the Biography I mentioned above stated that the elder B.F. Wright had been born in N. C. and had moved from Davidson Co. Tenn... all the oldest children were born in Tennessee, with the two youngest boys, B.F. Junior and William C. being born in Alabama..
SO....that is where I am at this point in time...I do have the will of Benjamin Franklin Wright who died in Lawrence Co. ARkansas and he was a very successful farmer..
My dad (Rector Eli Wright) told me that his grandpa Jim L. Wright (he went more by Jim than James) had told him that he remembered walking by a covered wagon for a long long time when they came from Missouri to Arkansas... and my dad thought that there was a Uncle Bill , that lived in the general area... but was unsure, (dad was born in 1914) he had decided to go visit his grandpa, and walked about 15 to 20 miles or more and had been walking most the day, when a man in a buckboard gave him a ride, the guy asked him who he was going to see and my dad told him "my grandpa Jim Wright".. he said the man looked at him and said" son, I am sorry, but Jim Wright died this morning.". Dad said he got out of the buckboard, and started walking back home to tell his dad, Ira Lee Wright, that his dad had died...
Well, that is all I have one who may or may not be our ancestors...Wm.C. of James???

Thank you, Barbara WRight Brodie
