Wrase Family Genealogy Forum
Hi Linda it's nice to meet another Wrase researcher, as I've met but one! First off, I noticed you spelled the name 'Wrasse' which someone else told me as well. I was so excited to learn you had replied to my message, not only were you researching Wrasses but also my Wrase family which is great! The info I have on the family is not much. The Ship Marion's ships manifest and cemetery records, as well as Wilhelmine Wrase Kalka being listed as a benefactor from her husband's Civil War pension is the essence of what I have. I would love, however, to receive any information you have, especially regarding John and his background/birthplace. The statement you made about his being born in Germany (Poland) was so very interesting because I've been researching that part alot. Much of western Poland was in German occupation, which can make a major difference! I'm also studying her husband's family, which is my grandmother's paternal lineage. The name is Kalka, and as you probably saw in the post, he was born in Poland/Germany c. 1824 and arrived at the Port of NY in 1856, the year before the Wrasses landed. Whether or not there was a connection in the old country is yet unanswered, but a very intriguing idea. I would be more than happy to share with you my info, but I'm not including it here as it may not be of interest to you? But because I haven't much on the Wrasses, I would very much like to receive whatever you have time to share. Thank you again!
