Margaret - I believe that your Charles Glyde Wrankmore may have been the husband of my Mary Sarah Brown who was born June 18, 1825 in Wheathampstead, Hertford. She was a daughter of George and Mary (Hooper) Brown of Wheathampstead. Mary Sarah was the oldest sibling of my great-grandmother. The only confusion on my part seems to be the discrepancies in age with Charles' wife in the various censuses. In both the 1871 and 1881 census, his wife is listed as Maria, born in Sussex. She is considerably younger than Mary Sarah and I am wondering if Charles' first wife died (Mary Sarah)sometime before 1871, but after 1857, and that remarried a woman named Maria. Charles and Mary Sarah had at least three children that I know of, all born in Middlesex: Sarah Mary Jane (born 1854 in Shoreditch, Middlesex); Charles Glyde (born 1856 in Middlesex); and Emily Charlotte (born 1857 in Pimlico, Middlesex). The 2 girls are found with their aunt and uncle Edmund and Emily Brown (Sarah in the 1871 Marylebone census and Emily Charlotte with just her aunt, widow Emily Brown, in the 1881 London, Middlesex census.
Where did you get the information regarding Charles and Mary Sarah Brown's marriage? And do you happen to know when she died? Did she and Charles have other children or are Charles' children from his other wife, Maria?
