Well -- we have done a little digging.
The Cecil Wraight I mentioned is Cecil Edward Wraight, born approximately 1881. He later married Alice Maude Miller.
He did in 1956 aged 75m and is buried in Doddinghurst Church (we do not have the inscription - if any).
(She subsequently married one of his brothers, possible a Clive).
Cecil is reputedly:
- one of thirteen siblings.
- became a pawnbroker's assistant (possibly in Mile End), sleeping under the counter of the pawnbrokers shop at night.
- although we thought originally he was from Hythe, he used to visit Herne Hill (Hernhill) a lot to see other relatives of his.
- His brother, Clive Wraight, (if it was Clive), reputedly lived in Seven Kings (?).
Does anyone know more about Cecil Edward Wraight and his origins, and family?
Other rumours (some contradictory):
- All of his siblings (13 in all) were boys.
- One of them may have been Austin Wraight.
- One of them may have been Amond Wraight (not sure of spelling).
- All the boys had names beginning with "C", and the previous generation had names beginning with "B", and the previous generation had names beginning with "A".
- He may have had a sister called Elizabeth Wraight. (I know -- it's contradictory to the above!)
- His mother came from Ireland.
