Hi Mary...the website you gave us seems no longer to be extant or available...but perhaps you know something of the person I'm researching.
Col Frank Wozencraft was a career soldier, was one-time mayor of Dallas, was son of Gen. Albert Wozencraft, an earlier career officer around turn of the century, for whom son Frank named and annually awarded an ROTC prize to the best-drilled ROTC cadet among the several regiments of the Dallas Public Schools, I believe there were 7 in all. Both Frank and his father Albert have nice profiles in the Handbook of Texas, of which I'm sure you are aware.
However, neither's profile even mentions this award, even though Frank died in Dallas, in 1966 I think. It was an event and award of which Col. Wozencraft was very proud, as a tribute to his father's memory...yet it seems to have been completely overlooked, and all but forgotten.
If you have any knowledge or information about this annual competition and award prize, I would be most grateful if you would share it with me.
I find only 2 listings of Wozencrafts in Dallas, a T.A and a Rev W.T. but your msg implies there are many more to be found in Texas; sadly however the site you mentioned is now apparently defunct.
Thanks for any help.
