Wotherspoons in Australia (from Glasgow)
I'm looking for anyone related to Andrew Wotherspoon (b. unknown).
"Andrew and Elizabeth Wotherspoon left Glasgow on the 'James Pattison' and arrived in Sydney on 11 December 1838.After training in Sydney, Andrew became the first teacher at Canberra. They also owned a sheepstation at Gininderra, where their thenth child was born.(I'm personally related to their 4th child, Walter)
"The Wotherspoon's moved to Lismore in 1864 on board the 'Keystone'.Andrew worked as the school teacher and the Postmaster, then built and ran a grocery store. He earned a reputionation for citizenship and scholarship, becoming known as 'a man of letters'".
Quoted from the Wotherspoon Sesquicentenary Port (St. Hallett's Liqueur Shiraz).1838 - 1988.
