Janet Wotherspoon (1890's-1960's) Born Edinburgh
Posted by: Charles Chalk Date: March 20, 2002 at 10:32:44

My grandmother Janet Wotherspoon was born in/near Edinburgh, Scotland in/around 1890. She had many (16+/-) brothers and sisters. Several of her siblings were preachers and Sunday School teachers as was my grandmother. Some of her siblings may have emigrated to Australia. My grandmother served in the British Royal Army as a nurse during WWI. She married my grandfather, Frederick Charles Chalk. In the 1920's my grandparents along with other Chalk's were en route to Australia but were detained just inside the USA at Detroit while they waited for visas for my aunt, Lillian Chalk. They never proceeded on to Australia. They remained in Detroit. I never met my grandmother. My father, Fred C. Chalk Jr, was their only son.
Any information on Janet Wotherspoon or her siblings would be much appreciated.
