Wayne, check out the 1870 Hancock Co.Ga. Census. ( Sorry I got this one when we first started doing research and didn't get the page #. I have learned!!) All of the Johnson children have initials and you can see the differents in the E in Sallie E. and James E. and the C. in Mary A. C.'s name. I was thinking it could be a E also until I rechecked . Of couse it still could be. I will work on it from here to see what I can find. I sure would like to prove if your Mary Ann is a dau. of William Henry & Roberta Worthy Johnson. Just remember that the Johnson sibings here are bad abt adding or taking out the T. in the Johnson name. My husband had uncles and great uncles that spelled it with the T. and some that didn't. It was a joke at the family reunions abt who had the T and who didn't.
As for the 1850 Hancock Co. Ga. census that has Bethana Johnson living next door to the Worthy household that included William H. & Goodwin Johnson. I belive that Behtana is the mother of the Johnson boys but haven't been able to prove it yet.I know that Bethana Johnson m. James Johnson May 29 1829 in Hancock Co. Ga. This would be abt right for the boys to be her sons. I have checked out all of the wills in Hancock Co. and can't find one on James or Bethana. I have just started looking at the court minutes to see what I could find . Most of the books are not indexed and are in bad shape so it will take a while to check them out.
Hope you all have a safe trip home. Let me hear what you find. LaRue
