Sue, My family tree includes Worthingtons who lived in the southern part of County Tyrone, Ireland, but who were originally from England long ago, I'm sure. Your query caught my eye and you appeared to need a little help with U.S. records. The earliest documented person in our Co. Tyrone line is Richard Worthington, who was counted as a Protestant in the 1766 Religious Census of Ireland, in the parishes of Aghaloo and Carnteel. His name appears in the vestry minutes of Carnteel parish Church of Ireland at Aughnacloy, c. 1778-1801/1803. After 1801-1803 only his son Martin's name appears. Martin Worthington (who died in 1823) married Jane Coote, per Church of Ireland records, and their son Martin Worthington (Jr.), was born about 1794 and died in 1874. Martin Worthington Jr. married Eliza Jane Hadden of Lough Park, Goland townland, Carnteel parish, Co. Tyrone, daughter of Joseph Hadden and Jane Beatty. I'm a Hadden descendant from Joseph Hadden's sister Anne Jane Hadden -- so Worthingtons were my cousins, not ancestors. I'm glad to have helped with your England to New Jersey Worthingtons. Let me know if I can help you with anything else. Annie C. Notify Administrator about this message?
