Rhonda are you aware of a book "The Warthen Family of Washington Co., Georgia"; A study of the families of Warthen, Irwin, Mott, Beckham, Wicker, Evans and Holliday of Washington County, Georgia; Compiled by Mary-Helen Sears Foxx, March 1982.
I know the spelling is not your way but I learned years ago that most folks can't spell the name correctly twice in a row. My Great grandfather's name was spelled in records as: Wortham, Worthen, Worthing, Worton, Warthen, Warthen.
I checked out the families in her book but could only find one Edward listed in the index. Sending it just for the heck of it.The 1860 Census for that county has Edward (R) Warthen age 41 b. GA who married an Elizabeth Holton age 36 who had 4 Holton children and he is listed with no children of his own. He is not listed even as a child in any of the eariler census so wondered if he moved in as an adult.
What county did your Edward die in?
