I have a little bit Jack that might be of interest.I purchased a birth certificate hoping it would be for one of my lot but sadly not.Have since sent it to another researcher as it matched her Worswick family.Details were John Worsick (sic) Born 7 Nov 1839 8am Chapel Lane Wigan.Father was Edward Worsick(sic) Mother was Mary Worsick formerly UNSWORTH. Father's occupation:Mule spinner.Birth registered at Wigan by Father on 10 December 1839.If you check the message board for Worswick at you should pick up who received this and perhaps follow it up.
Hope this helps a bit.Had to wait to post this message so sorry for the delay.I did wonder as your family were also Catholic which church you had looked at for baptisms? Mine were found at St Oswald and St Edmund in Ashton-in-Makerfield and earlier ones at Bryn.
