I was told many years ago that Wormell evolved from a Danish name, "Wormaldt", I believe. A Danish man whose first name I do not remember emigrated from Denmark to England and lived there long enough to get a land grant from the crown for land in the new world - Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick, Canada.
