This may be a long way of answering your questions, but

Flayle Payne of London, England (b ca Nov 1696 London; d 1765 Frederick Co., MD), was the father of Martha Nichols, wife of John Nichols (parents of Capt. Flayl Nichols of Sevier Co. TN). She was left one sterling silver in Flayle Payne's will. She was never married to a Lynch nor a Whorley.

The Martha "Patty" or "Patsey" Payne, who married (1) Francis Worley and (2) Patrick Lynch upon Worley's death in 1780 was Peter Payne's daughter. Peter was a son of Flayle (d 1765) Maryland.

Flayle Payne (d 1765) had a son, John Payne, who died in Bedford Co. Va., and left a 1798 will. John Payne, (d 1798), had a son, Thomas Payne, who died in Bedford Co. in 1847. Thomas gave testimony for Patrick Lynch's Rev War service pension.

Flayle Payne (d 1765) had another son, Thomas, who died in Frederick Co. Maryland in 1765, a few months after his father. This Thomas (d 1765) had a son named Flayl.

Flayl Payne, who left the 1784 will in Bedford Co., was also a son of Flayle Payne (d 1764). He was the operator of a ferry that crossed the Potomac into Loudon, Co., VA in the 1760s and 1770s called "Payne's Ferry." He and his brother sold their share of Frederick County, MD lands ("Payne's Industry," "Payne's Delight" and "That or None" and he and his family came with Patrick Lynch to Bedford Co., VA just after the Revolution began in 1775/6. They came a few years after John Payne & family and Martha (Payne) Nichols & family in the early 1770s.

Flayl Payne, who married Elizabeth "Betty" Pollard in Bedford Co., Oct 1790, was the son of Thomas Payne (d 1765). He was the same Flayl who gave permission for his sister, Joanna, to marry a man named William McCoy.

Flayle Payne's children named in his 1764 will in Frederick Co. Maryland were:

Thomas, died in 1765, Frederick Co., Maryland
John, died 1798, in Bedford Co., Va.
Flayl Jr., died 1784 in Bedford Co., Va.
Peter, died 1777 in Frederick Co. Maryland.
Martha Nichols died in Bedford Co. Va.

Flayle (d 1765) also left a John Best some land in his will. It is thought that John Best was married to a deceased daughter of Flayle.
