Linda: We need to touch bases. David C. Kyle was my great grandfather, and to the best of my knowledge, he and Mary Ann Chalmers had no issue. My grandmother and all twelve of her siblings were children of David and his first wife, Joanna Kyle. David was the son of Samuel Kyle, Jr., and Jane Allan Chalmers (your "Janet"). According to my Aunt Joan Kyle Zock, a granddaughter of David, the second marriage was not too successful and he and Mary Ann Chalmers went their separate ways. Family tradition allows that Joanna's children were not very accepting of their mother's successor, and had a great deal to do with the lack of success of the second union. This is very sad to me, as most of them never married, died in their prime of life from natural causes, and probably were not even able to relate to married life. The Chalmers line is what connects the Kyles to the Boyds of South Carolina.
