I am keen to make contact with anyone who has any information about the Worgan family living in Newland parish (inc. Coleford)in the 1660s and 70s, especially in connection with John and William W., who may have been brothers. Both had sons who were apprenticed in London: John, son of John, was apprenticed to John Skinn, Pewterer, in 1679 (the Skinns also had property in Newland); Richard, son of William, was apprenticed to Andrew Partridge, Tallow Chandler, in 1661; and John, son of William, was apprenticed to Nathaniel Anderton, Grocer, in 1669. I am particularly keen to trace any antecedents of John Worgan, the elder.
