Debby,

By any chance, do you have access to any Michigan records?

My John Worden, born ca 1808 NY, died 9 April 1872 Orangeville, Barry County, Michigan. His wife at that time appears to have been Harriet Chase, dau of David Chase and Lucy (Maxson) Chase.

I am seeking the burial location of my John Worden. We have gone to Orangeville and walked the cemetery, but I did not find any stone for John Worden. He could be buried there without a stone, or could be buried elsewhere. I believe when he lived there, he owned and operated a small grocery store.

Do you have any knowledge of Orangeville, or any thoughts as to how I might be able to determine where John is buried?

Secondly, I would like to know what happened to his widow, Harriet (Chase) Worden. I have not been able to find her in the 1880 census, although I might have overlooked her. Her father, David Chase, died 10 June 1870 Orangeville. I could not find him in the Orangville cemetery either, so they may be buried elsewhere.

John Worden's daughter, Alsophina (Worden) Peck, was living in Wayland, Allegan County, Michigan, when her father died. Alsophina's husband, John Henry Peck, died 5 Aug 1918 Wayland, and is buried there. I have also walked the Wayland cemetery, and did not find a stone for John Worden there, but his stone might have been in too bad of shape to read, or he might be buried there without a stone. John Peck was buried there without a stone, until we put one up for him.

My "guess" is that David Chase and John Worden are in the same cemetery - somewhere in Michigan.
