Here's a little article from the Machias Union, 1881:
FROM ADDISON
Chas Chandler, F.M. Merritt and wife, Elzena T., only daughter of A.D. Tracy, started from their homes in Addison May 23, for the Black Hills, Dakota Ter. Mr Chandler house joiner, Mr Merritt mill wright, will work at their trades, probably making the West their future home.

Remarkable case of family longevity. Mr & Mrs Moses Wooster, late of Columbia, died at the advanced age of 86 and 93 years respectively. They had a family of twelve children, one died in infancy, four died aged as follows; Mrs Jonathan Dorr aged 80, Amos Wooster 80, Moses Wooster 69, Hannah Leighton 88; average 76 3-4. Seven are still living aged as follows; Polly Allen 90, Leonard Wooster 83, Esther Merritt 81, Mariam
Leighton 77, Deborah Stevens 75, Abigail Look 73, Lousia Low 68; average 78. Average of parents and the twelve children 74 years, nearly.
