Hello Samantha,
My grandfather was born in Newtown, Wales in 1847.He
had an older brother,Richard, born in about 1839 or so.
He also had a younger sister named Sara Jane and a younger
sister named Frances. His father was Richard Woosnam and
his mother was Sara Ann Owen, niece of Robert Owen who
became famous and a museum houses his history and writings
in Newtown. There are a number of Woosnams around Newtown
and we're probably distantly related.I've gone to
Newtown once (I live in Los Altos, CA) and plan to go again
in May.I think it's possible that Richard's father was
named Francis, but I'm not sure.Last time I went to
do research on the Woosnams,I went to the library and my
husband went to the pub.By the time I got back all the
folks in the pub were regaling my husband with stories of
all the Woosnams (great athletes they were)and also
with tales of Newtown. He found out more than I did and
had a great time in the process.I've posted some other
messages and I hope you get a chance to read them.
I do have some stories and histories of the Woosnams posted.
Best regards,Sue DeLong
