In case this is of interest to anyone, there is a portrait of Linus Woolverton posted on Deadfred.com:

This portrait of Linus Woolverton appears on the illustration page facing page 10 in The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XVi, no.1, 1893. There is a biographical sketch of him on pages 10-13 of that volume (included is a picture of his house). Linus was born 12 December 1846 at Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. The family's roots are in England. Linus and his father were both in the tree nursery business. Linus became very involved in horticulture.
