Thanks Darrell, and if you run on to any other English Woolum/Woolums connections, please let me know.Because my Mom told me we were 100% English on both sides of the family! But, now I wonder.
I had already looked at those around "John Woolum's Corner" and kind of came to the conclusion that it was the same John Woolum Sr or Jr in Louisa County, Virginia as in Owen County, Kentucky.
Because, I think it is more than a coincident that Jacob's son Shem (Samuel)'s daughter Polly was living in Owen County in 1810 at he same time that John and Zach were there. But as I said, I can't prove that they were truely related.
John Ullam, buy what ever name, did own propety in elsewhere in Virginia at about the same time as the Deeds discussing "John Woolum's Corner."And could have sold off and moved on West, as did other of Jacob's children.
I believe (but cannot prove) that John (Sr) and Shem (or Samuel) were brothers, their father (perhaps) being Jacob Ulm.Jacob Ulm used the Anglicized names of Ullam, Wollam, and Woolum and others forms from time to time. I suspect either Shem was a soldier on duty nearby, or could have left Polly with John while he was off protecting early American's in "new territories."Not wanting to take a young daughter into the field, although the wife could have gone with him.
And the only Woolum/Woolums I can find (so far) from England are on passenger lists and appear to be German soldiers using Anglicized names and enroute to duty in America.
And many thanks for the suggestions.
