Hello Christina,
Augustus Arthur Woolson was my great grand uncle. He was my father's mother's uncle. "Gus" was born in 1835 in Lisbon,Grafton Co.,New Hampshire and died on the 15 Dec 1918. He is buried in Oakhill Cemetery, Lisbon,New Hampshire.
He attended the Lisbon district school until he was sixteen,and afterwards went for a few terms to the academies at Meriden,and at Newberry,VT. I assume the book is from the Lisbon School District.
You are correct in stating that he was never married. He was indeed a lawyer,justice of the peace,Speaker of the New Hampshire House of Legislature,etc.
