I have Augustus in my genealogy files, but I don't believe I have any more information about him than what you could find in a quick Internet search. He was born in 1835, so I guess he'd be 14 or so when he used the book.
Augustus is a distant relative of mine; we share common ancestors back a few generations to Thomas Woolson, the earliest known Woolson in America, who lived in MA in the 1600's.
Somewhere on the Internet I found a photo of Charles Enos Woolson, a brother of Augustus, so there may someone online who is a closer relative of these men and who could provide you with more information about Augustus.
It sounds like a fascinating book to own.
