Trying to connect the Woolson's of Cape May Co. New Jersey. My mother is a Woolson. I've gone back to Abraham ( see info below) but now have hit the proverbial brick wall. Any help will be verymuch appreciated.
--------------------------------------------------------
Abraham has a "Report of Auditors on the division of the land late of Abm Woolson." on file in Surrogates Office, Cape May Court House, N.J. It is dated 1796. It divides the land between his five (5) children. Abraham (b.1747), Judith (b. bef 1793), John (b. abt 1773), Aaron (b. bef 1793) and Caleb (b. 1783). 36 acres more or less to Aaron; 27 acres and 32 perches to Abraham together with the house commonly called the new house; Judith received 61 acres and 110 perches; John received 80 acres and 135 perches; Caleb received 60 acres with the house commonly called the Chester Tract. Since Aaron's part of the farm bordered on the Delaware Bay, Abraham,Judith,John and Caleb had "forever rights to draw seins and catch fish on the part which we have allotted unto Aaron ." This was signed September 22, 1796. Also on file is the Estate Settlement dated 4-19-1793 and witnessed by his wife Mary Woolson and a David Hildreth. The value of the estate was: 365 pounds, 10 schillings, 7 pence. The accounting started in January 1793 which means Abraham had died prior to that time. His wife witnessed this document on 4-19-1793 but she is not listed in the property settlement of 1796. It is assumed Mary died between these dates.
