Ira & Clarissa Woolson

I found an old article written about the historic Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, Niagara County, New York, built in 1835. It seems this church had nothing but money problems during it's early years. Here's an excerpt:

"Other financial difficulties continued to mount, and in 1844 the church was to be sold for a mortgage of $664.69 held by Henry & Elizabeth Tanner. The building was auctioned for $100 from the steps of the Frontier House on June 12, 1844. It was bought by IRA & CLARISSA WOOLSON, who immediately sold it back to the church society for $101."

I believe Ira Woolson was the youngest son of Isaac & Mercy (NELSON) Woolson of Waterbury, Vermont. I haven't uncovered certain proof yet, but all the evidence points that way.

Incidently, the interior of the Frontier House is now a McDonalds restaurant, of all things. Luckily the exterior has been more or less preserved.
