I am not related to him but he was a grand uncle of my dad's half-sister Johnnie B. Woolsey. She was born 1906 at Yoakum, daughter of John Burnis Woolsey. His father was William Sidney Woolsey, born 1847 Georgia. William's brother was George Monroe Woolsey, youngest of 14? children born between 1847 and 1866 to John Monroe Woolsey and Matilda Blount. I have names if you want them. John Monroe Woolsey was born 1819, Georgia. His father was John Moore Woolsey born 1775, Virginia. John Moore Woolsey married Phoebe Castleberry in 1819 at Putnam County, Georgia.

The 1880 Colorado Co., Tx. Census lists the John Monroe Woolsey family as follows:
               Age Born in
Woolsey, John M. 60 Ga.
, Matilda A. 55 Ga.
, Edmond F. 22 Ga.
, Martha A. 17 Tx.
, George M. 14 Tx.

My dad was very close to his half-sister and I remember Aunt Johnnie B. as a very gracious lady. Dad referred to George Monroe Woolsey as "Uncle George that we knew in Yoakum" in his family history notes.

I can't help much more on George but I do have pictures of several female descendants of his brother William Sidney Woolsey. Let me know if you want digital copies. I would like to see your picture as well.

Regards,
Tommy Booker
