Monroe and Susan were residents of Kirkland twnshp, Oneida Co., NY. He enlisted in the Union Army in the 117th NY volunteer Infantry. He died of disease at Ft. Annapolis, MD in 1864 and is buried in the Annapolis National Cemetery.
