Hi Betty,
I'm sorry, but I do not have any information about Thomas Chandler Woolley.I am not a Woolley descendant, but I have a set of books by John E. Stillwell about the early settlers of Monmouth Co., NJ which includes an account of the Woolley's who lived there. The Monmouth Co. Woolley's are descended from Emmanuel Woolley who resided in Newport, RI ca 1650's and 1660's.Emmanuel probably never came to NJ, but most of his children did.
There was also a Robert Wooley who lived in Fairfield, MA from 1653-1683, then in Southampton, Long Island, NY until after 1698.His descendants went to Union Co., NJ.There does not seem to be any relationship between Robert Wooley of MA and Emmanuel Woolley of RI.
I was not aware that Jedidiah Woolley Jr. founded a town near Chicago.Jedidiah Jr. was born in 1781, and he married Elizabeth Howland on 2 Feb 1799, according to Stillwell.
I wish I could be of more help to you Betty.Good luck with your research!
Susan
