Some of my Woolley, Wooley information, I have more too
Some of my Woolley, Wooley connections I posted to an old message, don't know if the person is still online.
Can anyone help me with any of these?
My GGGGGG-Grandparents had the name of Von Webber, Webber, some went to Webb and others to Weaver.Found my GGGG-Grandmother to be a Weaver married a Sturm. So I figure that is the line of Wooley you are searching.
When I follow down my Sturm line, I found a Samuel Wooley married a Sturm and her parents were Sturm and Stout.
Another of my 2 different Wooley lines connects 3 times to the same Neal family.Confused, I understand. Not sure of the date, without having to look elsewhere online at the same time, something I haven't learned to do, I have a Mattie L Wooley in Ohio, not sure if there is a Mary, but I think there is also a Margaret that may have gone by the name Mary.I have 8 different Wooley, Woolley lines in my ancestors.Sure wish I could connect a few of them. This Wooley married a W. H. Neal b c. 1845, brother to my G-Grandmother b 1855 according to my partial family Bible, married a Woolley. If that isn't enough, another brother of my G-Grandmother Neal, Woolley; married a sister of my G-Grandfather Woolley.Down the line, I find the name spelled Wooley for my Grandfather and children. They proclaim the name to be Woolley.I found my GG-Grandfather Woolley married twice and have what I believe to be his children.
Then I have a Hannah Wooley/Woolley married a Charles Dorsey, brother of my GGG-Grandfather Dorsey. Her mother was a Howland.
The first Mattie L Wooley I mentioned died, and Neal married a Gibbs. The Gibbs are also connected to my Dorsey family as well as Carr and McFarland too.Dorsey is one of the wives' of my GG-Grandfather b c. 1800.I haven't been able to pinpoint his orgin or Date of Death.
At the moment, I feel good to have remembered this much, as I have short term memory loss from a brain injury, so excuse me if I can't remember them all now.
I only have one direct line and that is my GG-Grandfather, Thomas C. Woolley.I think or feel I have followed every Woolley, Wooley, Wooly, Wiley, Willey, etc line there is and none seem to connect to him.Found many with the same naming pattern, but end up not being mine.I think everyone has given up looking for him.I have even checked England and Canada, but guess I just don't know enough to find his parents.
The name Hiram is a name a relative carries that is supposed to be from a G-Grandfather and GG-Grandfather.I always thought it must come from the maternal side of my Mom's family, not that I have found anything on my Shaffer side.I have pictures of my G-Grandparents and Grandmother Shaffer, etc who married a Woolley, Wooley, but I can't find her parents even with the pictures. They were taken 1920's. At least it says on the back of the picture they are Shaffer, Shaefer grandparents to my Mom.Wonder if she knew, maybe they were Woolley's that used to live with my grandparents a few years before they died. The fact that you say you have an Aunt Lizzie intrigues me.My G-Grandmother that married a Woolley was nicknamed Lizzie and that is the name on her tombstone.I would love to see her picture to compare with my Shaffer.
My Grandmother died when Mom was still a child, I finally heard my Grandfather Woolley remarried, and I don't know what happened to him.Never met him either. Not even sure if the picture I have is him or someone else.We all have the habit for not putting names on pictures, my children complain of that now.
I dated a Schaefer not thinking he may be related as the spelling was different, and one of my siblings dated a Woolley and there was no reaction as to whether or not related, we knew no relatives in our area. Now with doing genealogy, I am finding many of those with whom I went to school were related.I never knew..Mom knew about her family names, but I only met mostly her siblings and family.None of them lived close.
Hope you are still online and I didn't post this for nothing.Perhaps I will add it to a new post too in hopes someone will recognize something.
