I am a journalist as well as a genealogist. I am writing an article on the trial of Santanta and Big Tree, two Kiowa Indian leaders who were convicted in 1871 of what was called the Salt Creek Massacre, aka, the Warren Wagon Train Raid.
The Indians were defended by Thomas Ball and Joseph Woolfolk, who was living in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas at the time of the trial.
I need to confirm an anecdote regarding the trial. Hope to hear from someone soon.
