Hi Carolyn, I checked through what I had at home and found the following records on your William Woolard.

1850 Bedford County, Tennessee census page 300 Household #149 lists Candice Miller age 59 born Tennessee, Emaline Miller age 22 born Tennessee, Angeline Miller age 22, and William Woolard age 20. This is from the 1850 census abstracts by Sistler's. The abstract only lists the place of birth of the first two people in the household.

1880 Hopkins County, Kentucky census page 375B
William Woolard age 49 born MO father born NC mother born NC
Polly Woolard age 49 born TN father born NC mother born TN
Nancy H. Woolard age 15 born KY father born MO mother b. TN
Eliz. A. G. Wollard age 11 born KY father b. MO mother b. TN
Sarah Grysam age 71 born TN father B. NC mother B. NC

From the Woollard book I have the best guess of a match to your William Woolard is William C. Woolard born 1831. The place of birth is not listed. William C. Woolard is the son of John B. Woolard born 1799 NC died @1855 Wilson Co., TN and Lavina Meazle born 1805 NC died 1869 Wilson Co., TN. John and Lavina were married 3-4-1819 in Wilson County, Tennessee. John is the son of John Alligood Woolard who was born in NC and died in Wilson County, TN.
I hope that this may give you some help. This seems to be the best match. I can send you copies of what the book has on this line if you are interested, but I will need your home address. Happy hunting.
Sincerely, Matthew W. Carver
