George Woodward was born in Hanover,NH in 1776 and was a grandson of elder President Wheelock of Dartmouth College, from which institute he graduated from in 1793. His father was Judge Bezaleel Woodward of Hanover, and began his practice in Haverhill in 1805, previous to which time he was treasurer of Dartmouth College for two years. He continued at Haverhill till 1816 when he moved to Lowell,Mass., and resumed the practice of his profession at that city. He married twice, his first wife being the daughter of Capt. David Webster of Plymouth, his 2nd, the daughter of William Leverett, a prominant citizen of Windsor,Vermont. One of his daughters from the last marriage is the wife of Judge Warren Currier of St. Louis, Missouri. Also, a son Henry is living in St. Louis and another son, William lives in Brooklyn,New York. Mr. Woodward was a man of prominence and character and died in 1836. Notify Administrator about this message?
