Hannah Wood(s)/James Haskins, Monroe Co., TN
Seeking information on family of HANNAH? WOOD(S) and JAMES HASKINS found in 1860 Monroe County, District 4, Sweetwater Post Office. "Hannah" listed only with the initial "H." I hope this "H" is Hannah, daughter of Joel Woods and Mary Sellers who were in Monroe County in 1850 and moved to Carroll County, GA by 1860.
In the same district in Monroe in 1860 are my GGgrandparents, Jasper Payne and Mary Ann (Polly) Woods, thought to be Hannah's sister. (Jasper is erroneously listed as "Joseph.")
There is a marriage record of HANNAH WOODS and HENRY HASKINS on 20 Aug 1842 in Monroe County. Could Henry be a James Henry? The marriage date fits with birth of first child about 1845, according to census.
Children of James and "H" Haskins in 1860, all born in Tennessee and all girls, were:
A. Haskins, 15
S. Haskins, 13
M.A. Haskins, 12
T. Haskins, 10
Martha Haskins, 9
Caroline Haskins, 7
Joel and Mary Woods had 9 daughters and 3 (maybe 4) sons between 1811 and 1838. Hannah is definitely a family name. Have accounted for only two daughters, Mary Ann, above, and Rachel, who married John Michael (son of William Michael and Hannah Sellers). Both Mary Ann Woods Payne and Rachel Woods Michael moved to Carroll County, GA, along with Joel, Mary, two of their sons (Nathan and Joel Jr.) and three of their grandchildren. Am attempting to find the missing daughters. Any help/connections to this Haskins family appreciated, even if it eliminates them as being my family.
Thanks,
Judy
