Nathan Wilson and Samuel Bell Woods/ Cheyenne, Wyoming
Nathan Wilson and Samuel Bell Woods, sons of Samuel Woods (1801-1884) and Martha Eliza Bell (1806-1891) were born in Carlisle, Pa, moved to Monmouth, Ill around 1853, then on to Wyoming in 1868 where they operated a freighting business between the Black Hills and Cheyenne. They were brothers of Robert Hamilton Woods, my ggrandfather.Robert and Samuel Weakley Woods, another brother, moved to Iowa, and then eventually Robert Hamilton brought his family, including my grandfather, Ambrose Weakley Woods, to Oklahoma Territory in 1900, around Dover, in Kingfisher County, in the Unassigned Lands opened to settlement in the first great Land Run in April of 1889.
Are there any descendants of Nathan Wilson Woods or Samuel Bell Woods out there? This line goes back to Carlisle, Pa.The first American descendant was Nathan Woods from Ireland, settled in Lancaster Co, Pa around 1724. His son, Samuel, married Elizabeth Wilson around 1760 in Donegal Twp, Lancaster Co, Pa.Their son Nathan (1762-1812) married Jean Weakley.Nathan and Jean's son, Samuel(1801-1884) married Martha Eliza Bell.Samuel and Martha Eliza are the parents of the four brothers, Samuel, Nathan, Robert and James Woods. I have a picture of all four brothers if anyone is interested in a copy.
