Debra,
In my research, I found that one extended branch of my Bloom line was in Illinois and Missouri (two brothers). Herbert Bloom and wife Jennette had at least four children born in IL and two in MO. One daughter, Mamie S. born about 1874 in IL, married Sherman Woodrum Oct. 7, 1889 in Menard Co. Herbert and his family lived in Tallula. It may be that Sherman and Edgar were related - brothers perhaps? Mamie's mother was born in KY. So, KY and MO figure into the equation, along with IL?
