Capt. John Woodlief/Woodliffe who signed the 2nd Charter of the Viginia Co. in 1609 was not the same John Woodlief who was in Charles City County in 1665/6. Capt. John received a land grant from Gov. Yeardley in 1620 and then disappears from the records. His son, John Woodlief, repatented his father's land in 1637 and does appear in the Charles City Co.records in 1665.
