well this has been an amazing exercise todate! my father was julian frederick vernon woodliffe ex hampton middlesex england. settled in new zealand in 1950s. have established some linkage to canada through a great uncle from england who went to canada 'cos of family scandal. am tracing this to some canadian woodliffes. have met joe woodliffe, ex policeman (who has just been visitng NZ) whose father was charles woodliffe ex wilson n.carolina. so i know that while he may have settled in ontario he is NOT directly related...he is decended from the captn john woodliffe governor in 17th century.
BUT there MUST be a link with the lincolnshire woodliffes. it is such an usual name. can only trace woodliffes in middlesex to grandfather/great uncles. will email others re english linkage. but wanting to hear/learn more
