I'm Arthur Woodley's son-in-law and have been helping Arthur and Shirleen trace the Woodley family. I can tell you that Caroline's maiden name is Merrifield as per Arthur William's birth certificte. William and Caroline's marriage cerficate shows that William's father was James Woodley - unfortunately no indication of his age at marriage or his mothers name.

In the 1861 english census I have found a William Woodley who was 10 years old, born Kingsclere, Hampshire. Head of the household was a Caroline Woodley - no indication of a father. If this is our William then it means James could have died prior to the 1861 census. I will keep investigating along these lines and will stay in touch. Does Arthur have your email address?
