Thanks so much, Hannah, for your very interesting and detailed reply, the first I've had.

There's no doubt we're of the same family line, since my grandfather (Benjamin) was from Bedford, and died while in residence in the Manse of the Baptist Church in Carleton, after spending most of his life in Liverpool,after marrying Therese Taylor. My dad, Charles, and his sister, May,were their two children. May and my mother, Edna Hollis,became fast friends when my mom lived with her in-laws-to-be in Birkenhead until she emigrated to The USA in July 1929 to marry my dad in Chicago.
