Rev. Peter Woodin of Fulton, Oswego Co., NY in 1845 established a Baptist Church at Central Square, Oswego Co.It was organized on 14 June 1845.The building was erected during 1846 with Rev. Woodin, a carpenter, doing much of the work.The church was dedicated 18 Dec. 1846.A leave of absence was granted to Woodin in the spring of 1850.He went to California and organized a church there.He returned in May 1852 continuing his ministry until 1 April 1872 when he resigned due to age and infirmity.Source: Crisfield Johnson, "History of Oswego Co., New York", p. 363.
