I have created a plausible story to explain my Gt. Uncle Cecil CRESWICK Woodhead's (born abt. 1891 Edmonton (memory!)) middle name. His parents were Samuel James (Dover 1841) & Harriet Angel (nee Bagshaw Pembroke Dock 1853).
Samuel James' parents were Samuel James (East Retford Notts 1810) & Ann (Cheetham Orston 1812).
Samuel James Senior's parents were Edmund George (unknown birthdate & origins) & Susannah Gillian Kelly also nothing known.
Jumping back, in 1781, an Edmund CRESWICK Woodhead married a Hannah Stuart in Gainsborough, Lincs. 2 children only found, George 1782 & Ann 1784. - An Ann died 1790. Now if he was born by 1790, Edmund George who married Susannah Gillian Kelly COULD have been a child of theirs.
Jumping yet more generations, a Richard Woodhead was born Bradfield, Yorks 1548 (!) and married an Anne CRESWICK. - I forget the year. All this from the I.G.I.
If anyone has any info that might suggest my suppositions have some truth in them I would be v. pleased to hear.
