Edgar, I have been researching a William Sammons Woodfin, born ca 1805. He was married (probably second marriage) in 1873 to a Nancy Nichols Turner and fathered 3 children--Ross, Thomas, Louisa). They are listed on 1880 census in Mills River, NC; Nancy's age is 35, William's age is 75. I was interested in your post because of John Nichols and Mary Sammons Grady. Do you have any record of a William Sammons Woodfin?

Thanks for your help, Judson Turner
