Thanks Sue!Of course the search box was there.I had a sneaking suspicion when I wrote the message my eyes were the problem, not your page.Thanks for responding.
The John Wooden of Wells, Maine and Massachusetts, b. c1620-1630 is probably my ancestor.But I can't prove it. The Dorcas Wooden in your line was probably his sister; this John had a daughter Dorcas, b. 1671, probably in Rowley.John had a large family but few records exist since he moved around frequently.I believe he was a brickmaker.
My known ancestor, James Wooden, b. 1737, enlisted in the Revolutionary War first in Massachusetts, but it is not certain he was born there. Finding the names of his parents has been a multi-decade brick wall for me.
Bottom line: if we're related the connection is almost certainly back in the 1600's. If you happen to learn more about the Wooden family in the years 1650 - 1750, I would love to hear from you!
