Hi Mary, I'm also researching WOODCOCKs at North Bierley/Low Moor, coming at it from the other angle! I'm researching the Woodcocks of Hartshead/Birstall (Hightown Liversedge and Cleckheaton areas) and have been asked for help by a couple of Woodcock descendants from the Low Moor/Wike area. I assumed they were part of the Iron foundry ones, but they turned out NOT to be. Some were from the Christopher Woodcock (farmer) who you mentioned in your mails and some were from Thomas Woodcock (Stone Mason) not sure which line he is from! As yet I haven't been able to connect them to the line at Birstall, later Hartshead (which all descend from one chap, William of Liversedge Parke, who came into the area and began baptising his children at Birstall in the 1690s. There are Christophers in the Birstall Woodcock line, and I feel sure that some of the Low Moor ones are from that line, but have no baptism for the earliest Bierley Woodcock, Christopher, (married to Judith RHODES) who was baptising children at Birstall in the 1740s /50s. I would appreciate any help in sorting the 2 (3?)branches of Woodcocks at Low Moor! I have a public tree of the Birstall/Hartshead Woodcocks on the tribalpages site; www.tribalpages.com/tribes/hartshead I'm descended on 3 seperate lines of Woodcocks, leading back to William of Liversedge Parke, 2 lines through the same chap, through BOTH of his wives!(but NOT from the Low Moor ones, as yet.....) I will be coming to the Low Moor local history society open day this weekend, 18th April. I look forward to gathering any information possible, as I have FEARNLEY ancestors in the area of Bracken Hill/Raw Nook (farmers/clothiers) and also James SYKES a Green sand iron moulder, born Tong, but living at Hunsworth/North Bierley in the 1840s/50s. By the way, the Low Moor Local History Site is a fantastic resourse! the South Bradford Local History Alliance are doing a great job. There is more info appearing on the site every time I look!!! When I go on I'm like a kid in a sweet shop, looking at all the new non-conformist church records and Poor law Rate lists etc. Thanks for all the good work you people are doing! Best wishes, Pauline Scott. Notify Administrator about this message?
