Hi Linda, good to hear from you. Many years ago I saw your posting on the Genforum Randolph message board, but recently found your posts on the Wood family.
Martha Ann 'Patsy' Randolph, born in Pitt County, N.C. (unsure of date) came to Madison County, TN. with her brother, James Randolph, Jr., and as I recall, five sisters: Fannie, Nancy, Elizabeth, Harriett Eliza and Mary. Martha Ann 'Patsy' married Alexander T. Cole and Harriett Eliza married Albert Gallatin McClellan. I have found great information on the McClellan Cemetery as I'm sure you have also.
James Jr. and the other four sisters did not marry. Mary and James, Jr. took the two daughters into their home and raised them until Mary died in 1853. As far as I can determine, Martha Ann 'Patsy' (Randolph) Cole died ca. 1848-1850.Alexander T. Cole took the three sons into his home. I believe your Mattie, a daughter of 'Patsy' and Alexander T. Cole, married into the Wood family. The parents ofJames Randolph, Jr.and his six sisters were James Randolph, Sr., and Zilpha _______ Randolph of Pitt Co., N.C. (I haven't found Zilpha's maiden name. )This line of Randolphs, my line, originated in Lower Norfolk, VA in the late 1600's.
I'll be glad to exchange any information I have with you. I have researched my Randolph line quite extensively.
