Please accept my apology in getting back to you so late. I ran into a brick wall with the Wombles so I started working in other areas. There are three sets of Wombles in the Winston-Salem area. My great-grandparents were Henry A. Womble and Margaret Ardelia Holleman. They came to Winston-Salem from New Hill near Raleigh around 1890. My grandfather was their 3rd son Oscar James Womble. The second set are the Womble attorneys, known as Womble-Carlyle. I do not know how they are related. The 3rd is a gentlemen named Larry Womble. He serves in our state politics.
