Thanks, Sam. I would really like to see that Rice will. There must be some basis for the claim that John was Louvisa's father. but it could be unfounded.
A couple more bits on the Ann Blanton saga have come to light. She was apparently wife of Thomas Blanton of Spotsylvania and Caroline Co VA. She requested that the
Church Wardens of St George Parish in SpotsCo bind out John, Joshua and William Sept, 1737.
In Feb. 1738 she requested that the wardens of St Margaret's Parish Caroline Co bind out two unnamed children, one b. 1728, the other 1734. One Blanton researcher says that his Joshua of Prince Edward Co was b. 1728,
Then on 1751,in Amelia Co,
the same day that the presentment accusing Ann and Abraham of adultery was made, An unnamed petitioner requested that the wardens of Nottoway Parish bind out Richard Blanton Jr, Thomas Blanton and Archer Blanton.
Sometimes the smoke gets so thick there must be a fire.
The mystery now is why Richard Blanton JR? This is the first mention of him.In those days, Jr did not necessarily mean son of, but was sometimes used to distinguish between men of the same name, just meaning"the younger"
Thomas could easily have decided to go by Womack when he grew up. There are two deeds in Thomas Womack's name for 100 acres on Rices Creek buying in 1759, and selling it about the time he went to NC where Abraham had gone. The buyer was Sharpe Spencer, a noted frontiersman who reportedly once lived in a hollow tree one winter in Tennessee, and wasc later killed by Indians.
I really appreciate any input on thisFay
