All the information I have about Nathan Womack Walton I've found in online family trees and in Censuses. I found a record that he married Sarah S Tiernan c1841, and that they had a child, Tiernan Walton.Sarah and Nathan are together on the 1850 and 1860 Richmond, Henrico, VA Censuses. He then appears with W E Walton in 1870, and in 1880 with Pauline Rock Walton.
Paulina/e "Linie" Rock, b VA 1846, dtr of Thomas D and Juliet A Rock, married abt 1877 Nathan Womack Walton (b VA c 1803), son of William Scott and Sallie Womack Walton.Two children issued from this marriage: (1)Charles Saunders Walton, b. VA 22 Oct 1878, d. IL 1954, md. Martha (possibly Allen), b. KY. No issue. (2) Julia Womack Walton, b. VA abt 1880, d. GA 1949. She married Robert P Griffith, b. VA abt 1878, d. GA 1945. Their child: Julia Ashurst Griffith, 1912-1991, md. James E Morpeth.
Paulina Rock is a great aunt of my ggrandmother Olivia Burruss Robinson, who writes in 1890 that she stayed in Richmond, VA, with "Aunt Linie Rock, or I should say Wingfield, her fourth name . . . ."
I find Paulina in 1850 in Richmond Co, VA with her parents, and again in 1860 in Goochland Co, VA with her parents; I next find her in 1880 in Richmond, Henrico Co, md. to Nathan W Walton with a son Charlie S Walton. In 1900 she is married (for 17 years) to George A Wingfield. Living with them are Charles Walton and Julia W Walton, enumerated as stepchildren of George A Wingfield.
I hope someone can add to this small amount of information, e.g., did Pauline Rock marry before marrying Nathan W Walton? Was Nathan a sort of black sheep? There seems to be little information about him. What happened to his son Tiernan?
